Position Summary:
The Memory Care Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that exceptional programming and care standards are maintained in communities where a Memory Care Director or Manager role is vacant. This position works closely with the National Director of Memory Care, the VP of Life Enrichment and Cognitive Programming, and Regional VPOs to create a consistent monthly work schedule and prioritize regional needs. The Memory Care Specialist will implement innovative programming initiatives, support new and challenged neighborhoods, and offer leadership and mentoring to teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Guide Memory Care Directors and staff through training, ensuring that new neighborhoods receive the support they need.
  • Programming & Systems: Implement and monitor memory care programming, ensuring it aligns with state and American House requirements.
  • Quality Services: Support and visit challenged and new communities, providing feedback and direction to enhance resident care and program delivery.
  • Budget Management: Assist in managing budgets related to memory care, focusing on cost control and ensuring the community’s financial health.
  • Training: Facilitate classroom training and mentor new staff, ensuring all national and regional training programs meet applicable standards.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5years of experience as a Memory Care Director or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coach, motivate, and mentor staff members.
  • Experience in Memory Care 24/7 operations and a deep understanding of the physiology and psychology of older adults.
  • Knowledge of government regulations related to memory care.
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to working with older adults.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.

Travel Requirements:
This position requires willingness to travel and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
