 Executive Chef  Position Summary

Our  Executive Chefs provide exceptional culinary experiences to our Residents and Guests on a daily basis. Executive Chefs are full-service Chefs that are involved in the daily operation of the kitchen and dining room area. As  an Executive Chef  you get to do the things you love, creating delicious cuisines and developing relationships with Residents, their families, and your staff.  

 

Qualifications and Required Experience for  Executive Chef

  • Excellent culinary skills and the ability to execute a variety of menu items
  • Proven success in managing multiple dining experiences on the same campus.
  • 2- 5 years’ experience in dietary/food services
  • 1-2 years’ experience managing, training and scheduling culinary staff
  • 1-2 years’ experience managing kitchen budgets
  • Interpersonal relationship skills
  • Problem solving and logic skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassion for older adults

 

Primary Responsibilities for  Executive Chef:

  • Providing our Residents with superior restaurant quality meals and desserts
  • Create and maintain a superior dining experience for all.
  • Active role in the preparation and cooking of Resident’s meals
  • Responsible for maintaining dietary operations to meet the monthly food, supplies and wage budgets
  • Responsible for the scheduling and posting of work assignments for culinary staff, insuring there are adequate personnel on duty for the preparation and serving of meals, while maintaining staffing guidelines
  • Responsible for maintaining proper/hygienic food handling techniques and the overall sanitation requirements of a food service area and the personnel
  • Responsible for interacting with Residents during meals and assessing satisfaction levels
  • Working with Corporate Recruiters to source, interview, and hire qualified culinary staff
  • Provide culinary staff with proper orientation, training and excellent working environment
  • Responsible for setting up food and supplies for special events in coordination with the building Executive Director, Sales Director, and Lifestyle Director
  • Responsible for overseeing the proper use and maintenance of all culinary equipment and reporting an equipment in need of repair or servicing
  • Verifying staff are in proper uniforms daily
  • Responsible for carrying out any emergency procedures required during shift
  • Perform welcome orientation with new Residents
  • Engage in prospective Resident visits
  • Maintain regulatory compliance where applicable.
  • Proficiency with software applications/programs/tools used by American House for Executive Chef  
  • Responsible for knowing all information in the employee-handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director or the Food and Beverage Director.
  • All Executive Chefs must obtain and maintain a Serve Safe Certification.
