Regional Vice President of Operations Position Summary:

Under the vision and strategic direction of the COO, the Regional Vice President of Operations is responsible for providing both strategic and hands-on support, guidance, and direction with regards to operations, profitability and cost control while diligently promoting the American House’s philosophy of Senior Living and maintaining the highest quality of customer service.  The Vice President of Operations is responsible for maximizing financial and operational performance while leading, managing, and holding their team accountable for high performance and promoting a strong, positive work culture where all team members can thrive.

 

Qualifications and Required Experience for Regional Vice President of Operations:

  • Degree in healthcare, gerontology, business or related field or 10 years’ experience in Senior Living management required.
  • 5-year minimum experience in business management showing increasing responsibility and experience leading high performance/high commitment teams
    • In lieu of a degree, 8 years minimum experience in business management showing increasing responsibility and experience leading high performance/high commitment teams
  • Management experience; budgeting, staffing, care management
  • Strong financial and technical acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong passion, empathy and compassion for older adults, employees and family members
  • Proven focus on continuous improvement and strategic problem solving
  • A valid driver’s license, error-free driving record and current auto insurance

Primary Responsibilities for Regional Vice President of Operations:

  • Communicate and embody the American House mission, vision, RITE ON core values and goals to all Team Members, Family Members and business partners
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the communities in assigned region
  • Develop and increase the profitability and efficiency of each community and company-wide
  • Foster a sense of enthusiasm, self-worth and team spirit among the communities
  • Provide suggestions for improvement and communicate alternate methods of operating among the Executive Directors
  • Monitor the performance of each Executive Director in relation to the goals of the property; and fostering their professional development
  • Regularly inspect each community, make suggestions for improvements. Follow up on implementation of suggestions and mandates
  • Ensure coordination and consistency of quality service throughout the region
  • Monitor effectiveness and cost efficiency of operating policies and procedures
  • Review monthly variance reports and financial statements with Executive Directors and address any budget variances, including creation of actionable strategic plan for improvement
  • Monitor labor costs and hours, on a weekly basis, and address concerns and action plans with Executive Directors
  • Partner with Human Resources to drive key people initiatives and serve as a catalyst for change management
  • Monitor and respond to summary reports of operational and financial statistics; including monthly reporting package
  • Directly supervise, review, and evaluate the performance of the Executive Directors, assigned specialists, Regional Director of Sales and the Regional Wellness Director
  • Review and authorize all bonuses, capex amounts, and large accounts payable checks prior to release
  • Monitor community accounting and internal controls and practices
  • Ensure the Chief Operating Officer is informed of major issues and make suggestions and presentations for change and improvements
  • Review operating and capital expenditure budgets and ensure they are in good order and acceptable prior to submission
  • Ensure the Employee and Resident satisfaction surveys are completed and communicated at each assigned community. Ensure action plans are created and followed
  • Travel to corporate meetings as required
  • Attend approved conferences/seminars and identify senior living industry trends
  • Prepare reports for investors, owners, and Executive Committee as requested
  • Maintain and/or increase occupancy, increase revenue, and/or decrease expenses
  • Perform financial analysis and updates for the President and COO regarding regional financial performance
  • Conduct regularly scheduled on-site reviews of community operations to identify improvements for quality, occupancy levels, spend, culture and staffing
  • Provide strategies, guidance and execution on achieving financial, performance and cultural goals
  • Promote a strong, positive market and employment brand and execute to deliver upon our brand promise
  • Research, analyze and evaluate competition and position in the marketplace; report out on intel, best practices, concerns and innovations to drive continuous improvement
  • Manage and influence accounts receivable practices for each community within assigned region
  • Develop and monitor the progress of financial and operational performance standards to assure viable operations, positive cash flow, budget adherence, high levels of quality care and resident satisfaction, low levels of employee turnover and high levels of employee engagement
  • Actively engage in and personally own the strategic direction of American House to ensure clarity and effective execution of goals and objectives
  • Adhere to American House leadership standards which are always subject to change
  • Actively engage and prioritize the selection, development and performance of direct reports to ensure a professional, motivated and high performing team for American House
  • Lead, manage and execute on key initiatives, projects or research as needed
  • Oversee Capital Expenditure budget/projects; provide ongoing reports and suggestions for improvement as needed/required
  • Collaborate with team members on all aspects and deliverables related to due diligence and intent to purchase requests for community acquisitions and new property developments; oversee operations management for acquisitions and new developments
  • Work with each Corporate Pillar to assist with implementation and upholding of American House standards and practices
